I was organising my gallery and I realised that there were a few Jade pieces I'd never actualy added. So here's one of them!
A handcarved Hei Matau pendant, designed and carved by me in New Zealand, from New Zealand Greenstone (Nephrite Jade). This is a slightly less usual type of Nephrite Jade, being almost opaque and of a much lighter colour than the type usually carved.
The Hei Matau (Fish Hook) represents strength and determination. It brings peace, prosperity and good health. It also provides a safe journey through water.
This carving is 47mm long, 34mm wide, 3mm thick at the loop and 9mm thick at the base. (1.85 inches long, 1.34 inches wide, 0.12 inches thick at the loop and 0.35 inches thick at the base)
This piece is for sale in my Etsy shop - [link] <--- more pics of different angles here.
Beautiful carving! I love how it curls around the top at the hole. This has wonderful flow and the shade of green is just stunning... I've never seen anything like it and i've seen a lot of green stone in my time.
How long did this take to carve and what tools did you use?

There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
